Batshift Crazy, later known as Tengu Downe, is a patient from Amateur Surgeon 3: Tag Team Trauma and is the 34th and 63rd patient in Amateur Surgeon 4: Re-Generations. He seems to have a fascination with becoming a different mythical species.

Amateur Surgeon 3: Tag Team Trauma[]

Ophelia runs into Bats as he is hanging upside-down from a tree branch. Thinking it is a result of his newly formed "vampire magnetism", he reveals himself to Ophelia and requests to suck her blood, only without the biting due to his squeamish-ness. Before he can continue to unwittingly disturb Ophelia, Bats starts to feel immensely ill. Stating that he had eaten a couple of bats to give him vampire powers, Ophelia decides to operate on the poor fool.

Ophelia's Description[]

The patient WANTS to be a vampire. His solution? EAT BATS. ...Really?!

Hmm...I always WANTED a pet bat, you know. -ALAN

These aren't normal bats - I hate to use a word like "mutated", but...well, they're NASTY! The glowing eyes are a dead giveaway...

Careful! Bats locate stuff by throwing poop at it! ...I think. Don't let them find you! -ALAN

We have to EXPECT a struggle - if we can keep damage to a minimum then I think we'll be doing pretty well.

Also bring me a bat! To like, uh...study! -ALAN

Amateur Surgeon 4: Re-Generations[]

Since the vampire thing didn't work out too well, our friend here decides to take a shot at something different: a mythical creature known as the Tengu. Renamed as Tengu Downe, he meets Ignacious Bleed II during his trip to the Guru, dressed in what seems to be traditional tengu apparel, minus the runny nose. As Ignacious tries to tell him the Guru is a fraud, he is unable to as Tengu babbles on and on about how happy he'd be to finally have his dream become reality. Feeling a bit bad for him, Ignacious decides to aid him by operating on Tengu himself(as long he doesn't mention it to anyone, of course).

Bleed's Description[]

Level 34(Main Storyline)[]

This elderly gentleman appears obsessed with transforming himself into a mythical Tengu using animal parts he has collected himself. Having, uh, "indisposed" his first choice of surgeon, I feel I must take up the challenge!

Level 63(AS3 Flashback)[]

Vampires DON'T exist - so why are we treating a cloaked patient hanging upside-down on a tree? Patient reports to have eaten live bats. Ok......

Procedure[]

Amateur Surgeon 3[]

Use the scanner to find the two fangs buried under the skin, then continue to extract various fangs and heal the cuts. When entering his body, there are three bats resting inside. Use the lighter to irritate the bat, causing it to fly around within the body(be wary, having 3 animals fly around inside Bats all at once is no party for him; his heart rate will begin to drop rather quickly). You'll have to be precise and zap the bat at just the right moment. A single bat takes 3 shocks to kill. After the bat dies, quickly extract it or else mini bats will erupt from its body, giving you more enemies to shock(AS3 only). To get a more accurate shot after it has been shocked, try waiting for it to slow down before attempting to zap it again(unless you're a really good shot). Extract and patch anything else within Bats and you're free to close him up.

Amateur Surgeon: Re-Generations[]

Use the tongs to remove the various objects on his fingertips, replacing them with talons. Making an incision on the top of Tengu's back, you'll have to place a component into it. Remember it because you'll have to return to it later. Cutting into his back, chainsaw the vessels out and remove them. This will cause blood to erupt from the vessels. Clamp and fasten where directed, then place the given component in between the vessels, burning and gelling it in place. Returning to the component lodged in his back, place the wings given into the corresponding opening. When that's finished, it's time to head into the nose. There are mucus blocks you must chainsaw down, which give off bits of poison. Keep using the chainsaw until the various blocks are destroyed, but be careful not to let the poison stack up, for it'll drain the heart rate pretty quick(using Brick "The Drill" Mcgill here will save loads of time).

And as a nice ending touch, place the bird beak onto his nose.

Trivia[]

  • Tengu Downe's face paint resembles that of a Tengu mask. Furthermore, because of his unusually long nose, it suits the tengu theme better and the earliest forms of tengu are of birds of prey.
